COL Pitney Biography

Colonel Aaron C. Pitney received his commission from the United States Military Academy and his Medical Doctorate from the Uniformed Services University. He completed a Pediatric Residency at Tripler Army Medical Center, Hawaii, followed by a fellowship in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology at the National Capital Region Medical Directorate and post-fellowship training in Pediatric Bone Marrow Transplant at Johns Hopkins. Colonel Pitney is certified by the American Board of Pediatrics in General Pediatrics and Pediatric Hematology/Oncology.

Colonel Pitney began his clinical career at Brooke Army Medical Center, San Antonio, Texas, where he served as Division Chief and Institutional Primary Investigator with the Pediatric Oncology Group from 2003-2007. He was next assigned as Chief of Pediatric Hematology-Oncology and Assistant Chief of Pediatrics, Tripler Army Medical Center, Honolulu, Hawaii. In 2010, he was named Chief of Pediatrics at Madigan Army Medical Center, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington, a position he held until 2015. He then served as Deputy Commander for Clinical Services and Chief Medical Officer, 549th Hospital Center/Brian Allgood Army Community Hospital, Republic of Korea. Colonel Pitney returned to JBLM in 2016 to serve as Deputy and then Chief of Clinical Operations for Regional Health Command-Pacific. He assumed the position of Chief of Medical Readiness, Office of the Surgeon General, Falls Church, Virginia, in 2018. From 2020 to 2022, he was the commander of the U.S. Army Medical Department Activity, Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. Most recently, Colonel Pitney served as Command Surgeon, U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command, Fort Eustis, Virginia.
